Amori's Library and After-School Program

H.E.L.P Feed the Children Foundation’s Amori’s Library and After School has a Secondary Program where children are helped to develop their spelling, essay writing and mathematics.

Grandma spontaneously begun by throwing words at the children and this aided her in discovering where the children fell short in their vocabulary and directed Ms. Mercy, the teacher to continue with this and begun with five words a day and this accumulated to one hundred words in two months.

The times table is given to every child who comes to the library and points are given to children who answer questions.  As an incentive, a gift would be awarded to the highest point earner while consolation prizes would be awarded to runner ups at the end of the month.

Most of the children are from destitute families and very poor and due to unsanitized environments they come from, are prone to health hazards such as cholera. This is why we teach them personal hygiene and the importance of living healthy.  We also offer personal grooming products such as deodorant, bathing soaps, tooth brushes and paste to help maintain them selves.

H.E.L.P. Feed the Children Foundation is seen as a "Movement of Hope" for the children. Therefore, this Mantra is our guiding force:

•    H - Hope for the future.
•    E - Empathy for all who struggle daily with hunger.
•    L - Liberty for the liberation from the "pangs of hunger" and deprivation which stunts the growth of civilization.
•    P - Progress that will be realized and be a contributing factor to the future of Ghana.

CURRENT EVENTS:  In an effort to encourage essay writing, a child is randomly chosen to write an essay of the borrowed book or recite it before the class.  We believe this would enhance their writing skills since they write about books they enjoy reading.  This will also lets us also know if they comprehend what they read.  Seven children have tendered in applications for an essay competition organized by Shoprite in Ghana about “What I want to be when I grow up”.  Hopefully, they would win some prizes.

FUTURE EVENTS:
Mr. Isaac Mensah is with GIDS Film Production and is ever ready to produce a full movie for H.E.L.P Feed the Children Foundation.  He is also with the Christ Ambassador Outreach, where he reaches out to the ten regions of Ghana and by so doing scouting out for real destitute and proclaiming the Good News of Christ.  Along with H.E.L.P Feed the Children Foundation, Mr. Mensah and selected private schools is organizing a quiz in mathematics and English.
